The tale of Doris and Caesar

So everyone has a guilty pleasure, today I shall expose one of mine: CATS!

Before I met my hubby, I was a forever singleton and many people including friends and family members predicted that I would end up being a cat lady. Luckily I met my hubby before this happened. However he was the product of a cat family as I was I. He got teased in school because his Mum fostered cats and at one point had 20 in their tiny little town house. I had had cats since birth as had he.
SO the first thing we did when we moved into our house is look for a cat. Now both our families have only really had rescue cats, so that's where we headed. Off to a lady's house who rescues cats in her huge back garden. She only had one cat at that time. We were looking for an older cat, as we both work full-time and didn't want the hassle of a kitten. Preferably a black and white old dude. However we were meet by the then Lily, a six month old tortoiseshell. She took an instant liking to me and an instant disliking to Darren. We left to think it over.
Less than a week later Lily arrived at our house, she settled straight in, there was just one last thing to do: change her name. This cat was NOT a Lily she was a diva who knew her own mind! She was a DORIS! Yes that’s right, that’s when Doris joined the family. She has remained loyally mine. In fact she is more often than not disinterested in everyone else. She's grown a huge lions-main and rules the house.

She also has a range of names: her offical name is Doris Tina Kent. So she gets called Dora-tina, Tina, Princess, and Trouble.

Over a year later a friend in London contacted me and asked if she could give us her cat. It was her girlfriends and she was moving to a flat with no garden and wanted him to go somewhere where he could live out the rest of his days in a happy family. Luckily she chose us. I asked for a picture of her little man before approaching Darren with the question. This was the right move. After I texted him with the picture and the question he replied simply with I want that cat. That cat is Caesar he is the cat of Darren’s dreams: Darren wanted an old boy cat who was soft and gentle and loved lots of fuss and cuddles. Caesar fits this description to a T.

A few weeks past and Caesar finally arrived at our humble abode. He still had his balls in place and let us know all about it. He was terrified and wanted to run away. He managed to get out of our house over five times in the first few weeks. He had to put posters up where we lived. He came back to us via neighbours. Then we started to trap him in a cat trap leant to us by the lady who gave us Doris. Every time he escaped we wondered if he was ever going to settle and want to live with us. We finally got his balls removed, a week or so later, he was a different cat.
What we had never expected was not only was Darren mitten with his new cat. But Caesar was more than mitten with Darren. Now we've both had cats all our lives but I have NEVER seen a cat look at anyone the way Caesar looks at Darren. Seriously he is in love. He is happy to take fuss and cuddles with anyone but if Darren is in the room, then it is Darren he wants. And he smiles and purrs away in a fashion that can only be love.
Caesar just has the two names: Caesar and 'The boy'.

This summer I am more than tempted to add a third cat to the group. This time I want a kitten. A tiny ball of fun and energy. Ever since I decided I gave in and added a guilty pleasures board to my pinterest and started pinning kittens.

I mean who wouldn't want a little buddle like this one?:

So what do you think? Will I get my own way and get another cat?
How many cats do you have?

Jersey Part Two

THE JAGGED COASTLINE

What with Jersey being a island and all it has some breathtaking coastline, mid way through our holiday we went on a trip to some tourist attractions, each was closed as it was out of season. So we decided to drive on and just see what we could find. This drive was beautiful, lots a stunning countryside and then the beach appeared. The jagged coastline called us out of our car for a little adventure, so wellies on and of we went to explore. Below is the beauty that we were lucky enough to encounter.
